Get the moving truck folks...

I relocated my blog to another provider and can be found here.

Egan has left the building!

It has been fun while it lasted on Blogger, but the Comment load time stuff just did me in.

[enter dork] I fell asleep last night to a program on The Discovery Channel talking about volcanoes. I am absolutely fascinated by them and guess that's due to the fact I was seven when Mt. St. Helens blew her top in 1980.

I have been lucky enough to summit the mountain three times, each time adventurous in its own way. Sure the mountain is 1300 feet lower after the 1980 event, but it doesn't mean it's any easier to not get lost. One of our trips up we almost had to call a search and rescue team since my good friend, we'll call him Todd, was no where to be found. Thankfully he did show up an hour later in his wet jeans and the search was called off.

For those of you not from the Northwest there are three amazing parts about the Mt. St. Helens summit trek. First there are some wonderful caves to explore on your way to base camp. They are extinct lava tubes that seem to go on forever. They are known as the Ape Caves. Next you are rewarded with a view of the crater once you summit the mountain. From the top of Mt. St. Helens you can see three other volcanic peaks: Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Hood. If there's a lunar landscape on earth, the view from the top of the mountain even 25 years later shows the power of mother nature.

Finally, you get to slide down the mountain on the glacier. This is my favorite part about the trek since it's longest sledding hill ever. Just turn your backpack around and get ready to drop 4,000 feet. It's a great adrenaline rush and will put those childhood sled hills to shame really quick. [exit dork]

Stifled creativity

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I do have my green sweater on so no pinching Egan today. I intend to eat Lucky Charms the entire day and maybe have a beer or two. I think I am about 1/16th Irish so don't mess with me because I just completed Anger Management courses.

The best part of today... it's my Friday. Our company turns 10 years old today in an era when most dot coms were lucky to last ten months. My company has roughed it out for 120 months. Quite impressive I must say. We are celebrating tonight with a gala and we don't work tomorrow. Very nice gesture I must admit.

In case you didn't know it, Egan in gaelic means ardent, strong, annoying, pain in the ass, verbose, dumb, and handsome.

Found money

For the second time in the past month our household has found lost money. Last time it was a ten spot and this time it was a five spot. Next time I'm guessing it will be a good old George.

My question to you readers. What do you do with found money? I would hope most try and find the person that dropped it and give it back, but in the event you don't know who that is or if they left the scene.... what do you do? Last time we gave the ten dollar bill to a homeless man. My wife believes it's bad karma to keep any found money. What would you all do with the found five dollar bill? I am not sending to any of you no matter what.. so don't get any bright ideas.

Words stuck in my head

From time to time I will get strange words stuck in my head. Eventually the word will go away only to be replaced by a newer, hipper word. Soon you will see a feature added to the right margin of my site for whichever word/expression is stuck in my head currently. I am sure you all can't wait to hear these words.

Recent words include: extol, facetious, wonk, verdant

I figure the only way they will go away is to place them on my blog for you all to enjoy. Yes, this is a weak post, but I am up late again. And no, I am not being facetious. Just too lazy to post more information.

For those that are wondering, Sprizee and I aren't related. She just made passes at me while we worked together. I took her passes to mean something more than they were. Tried to make out with her and it didn't go so well. Ever since then we have been working on repairing our relationship. She allows me to hug her and that's it. No longer am I allowed to cop her gratuitously. It's very troubling for me, but I can respect her wishes. She did teach me the difference between a skirt and a dress and I shared my knowledge of empire waists. Oh, and yes I am being quite facetious in this paragraph.

Timbuk 3: gotta wear shades

It was another absolutely fabulous weekend in Seattle. I honestly can't remember the last time it rained here and I have a steel trap for a memory. Did some clothes shopping and lots of exercise. We were able to go on a tiny spending spree this weekend because we are getting a nice four digit tax refund. Hurray!

Saturday, finally saw the movie Million Dollar Baby. Yes I did cry about three times in the movie. It was one of the better movies I have seen in a while, last movie I liked this much was Sideways. This movie definitely deserved the accolades it garnered at the Oscars. I think as Sprizee said in a post of hers, if you don't cry at this movie.... you are dead to the world.

Earlier in the day Saturday my wife and I bought a bunch of clothes since it's summer in Seattle. (I do love getting new clothes as they create a newness in the wardrobe.) Well maybe it isn't summer quite yet, but us Seattleites like to think it is. An over 60 degree day this time of year means my peeps are wearing shorts everywhere. For those of you not from here, be advised to bring your sunglasses. Note: they won't be used for the sun, but will be used to avert your eyes from the pasty white legs everywhere, including the man typing this.

Sunday, decided it would be an awesome idea to just workout a bunch. I went for a run late Saturday night, woke up Sunday and went for a swim early in the day. After checking out some open houses in our hood, my wife and I played tennis together. I then tried to read, but was too exhausted from late night IMing the night before... so like any child would do, I took a nap. Woke up from said nap to eat dinner and then headed off to the gym where I stared at myself in the mirrors and lifted some weights. Now I am blogging and the weekend is officially over! Keep it real fellow bloggers!
